About Dundee

Dundee grew at a mill site on the River Raisin. The Potawatomi lived here before settlers arrived, and the land was part of the Macon Reservation. William Remington acquired land in 1823, the first sawmill went up in 1828, and the village incorporated in 1855. The three-story mill built in 1848 is still standing. Henry Ford restored it in 1935 as one of his village industry plants, making welding tips, and it later became the Old Mill Museum at the heart of the downtown historic district.

The village sits inside Dundee Township, where US-23 and M-50 cross at the center of town, a junction that earned it the nickname Hub of the Highways. That access brought in two very different large users. Cabela's built the sporting goods store that turned Dundee into a stop for travelers along US-23. On North Ann Arbor Road, the Dundee Engine Plant began as a joint venture of DaimlerChrysler, Hyundai and Mitsubishi, starting production in 2005, and it now belongs to Stellantis.

Our own experience here comes from one large deal. A 155-acre land parcel brought a Culver's to Dundee, and we told that story on video and on our blog.
