Commercial Real Estate in Novi, Michigan

About Novi

Novi was organized in 1832 on land split from Farmington Township. Residents wanted a shorter name, and Dr. J. C. Emery proposed Novi at his wife's suggestion. The familiar tale of a stagecoach or toll stop numbered VI does not hold up well, since the toll road and the railroad both arrived decades later. Cityhood did not follow until 1969.

Freeways explain what happened next. I-96, I-696 and I-275 converge here, with M-5 tying in, and Twelve Oaks Mall opened in 1977 and made the city a regional shopping stop. Retail concentrates around the Novi Road interchange on I-96, car dealerships line Haggerty Road and Grand River Avenue, and the Vibe Credit Union Showplace, called the Suburban Collection Showplace until 2026, brings trade and consumer shows to Grand River.

Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital, Harman, Ryder, Lineage Logistics and ITC Holdings, the electric transmission company, are among the major employers. Japanese auto suppliers form a distinct cluster, including Toyota Boshoku America and American Mitsuba. Offices, research space and distribution buildings fill out the market beyond retail. Novi is close to home for us, just down Grand River from our Farmington Hills office, and it is where we helped USC build out an office around the way its team works, a project we shared on our YouTube channel.
